Mari ceramics

As you may have noticed, I ask all the guests for our blog the same questions. So far I have formulated an article from the answers. Now I've decided to change the format a bit and just publish the answers unedited. This makes it even more authentic and I like that a lot. I always start with the question:
.
Which face is behind Marikeramik?
.
I'm Jenny, 37 years old and live in beautiful Aschaffenburg with my husband and our 3 girls. I am happy when I have my loved ones around me. We always have something going on and I love that. In my free time I sing in the gospel choir (MainGospelTrain Aschaffenburg), like to ride my bike and cook for my friends. We are currently remodeling and I am really looking forward to a table with 12 seats.
.
What drew you to work with clay?
.
At some point I mentioned to my husband that I would like to go to a pottery class. That was during some lockdown. Suddenly everyone was making pottery and these videos relaxed me so much that I wanted to try it myself. When we then celebrated our first wedding anniversary, he gave me a voucher. At the end of last year I decided to register a small business and I am very, very happy with that. The topic of going back to work after my parental leave was present anyway and working hours in the kitchen are not compatible with family life. So this voucher for the wedding anniversary was really a great and lasting gift from my husband.

What excites you most about ceramics and working with clay?
.
What inspires me most about ceramics is that it always gets me into a flow. When I make pottery, I feel a calm, relaxed and chilled flow. I can just let myself drift creatively and in a very special meditative way. For me, this is the perfect balance to the bustle of everyday family life.
.
Which works/products are your favourite?
.
I prefer to sit at my turntable. Making dirt, the great feeling of creating something with your hands and feeling the smooth tone. I like glazing my pieces almost as much. The application with the brush is a bit like painting, I like doing that too, but I'm not that good.
